RDDC Policies
Ages Served
We generally cater to youth athletes, ages 7-18. We also accept athletes younger that 7 years of age, on a case by case basis, if they are strong swimmers who are comfortable in deep water, have an adequate attention span to pay attention and stay on task for over an hour, and can handle cold temperatures. We also have a Masters Dive Program, for ages 22-99, same provisions as above apply.
Payment
Monthly training fees are charged automatically through a recurring credit or debit card payment. Checks and cash are not accepted—no exceptions. Occasionally, we offer one-time events such as workshops, clinics, or camps, which may allow for alternate payment methods, including checks or cash, but credit card payment remains the standard. Monthly training fees are subject to change and may increase annually to reflect an estimated 3% inflation rate.
Diver Profile Administration
The club charges an administration fee of $50/hour. The website is designed for the client to administer their own profile. All profile updates, including schedule changes or cancellations, must be completed prior to the start of each month to ensure accurate billing. Late updates may result in charges for scheduled practices or refund fees.
Refund Policy
All refunds will be charged a 10% fee.
Communication
Before a diver begins training, a parent or guardian must join both the RDDC GroupMe and the team email list. These platforms are the primary methods of communication for important updates, including schedule changes, cancellations, and upcoming events. Staying connected is essential for receiving timely and accurate information. There are sign-up QR codes located on the observation level of the pool deck.
Progression and Group Placement
Group placements are based on attention span, skill, and commitment level. Coaches may recommend movement between groups based on performance and readiness. We encourage open communication between coaches, divers, and parents to ensure the best path for each athlete. Coaches determine when an athlete is ready to advance. If additional time is needed to master a skill, the athlete will remain at their current level. Progression decisions are made solely by the coaching staff.
Practice Times and Missed Practices
There are no make-up sessions for practices missed due to personal conflicts or absences. Practices missed for personal reasons cannot be rescheduled or made up on a different day. Divers are expected to train with their assigned group at the designated practice times. Athletes must attend practice on the specific days and times they have signed up for.
Parking
Parking at the Retriever Activities Center (RAC) is free after 4:00 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends. Outside of these hours, free parking is not available, and spaces are limited. If you park during restricted times, you are responsible for complying with campus parking regulations.
Facility Access
All individuals must enter the RAC through the front entrance using an access card provided by RAC staff. Limited exceptions may apply during specific events (e.g., the October Open), where access through the outdoor pool gate may be allowed.
Weather Policy
If the pool is closed due to weather conditions, the corresponding practice will be canceled. Refunds will not be issued for weather-related cancellations.
Holidays
Training fees are billed monthly, regardless of holidays or the number of training days in the month.
Competitions
Competitions are a great way to assess and advance the skill development of the athlete. RDDC offers several developmental meets throughout the season. These meets are open to all training groups and every practice group is encouraged to participate in these fun home intrasquad meets.
Junior Olympic (JO) groups are expected to participate in every meet RDDC attends, even if they are only ready to compete at the Novice level. Novice and JO events are designed to provide divers with much needed meet experience at all stages of skill development. While the planning and administration of meets not hosted by RDDC are out of our control, our meet calendar will be shared at the start of each season and will be updated as needed.
Meet Fees
RDDC charges $120/diver for every travel meet to cover coaches’ expenses.
Travel Policies
RDDC does not provide transportation to meets. Parents are expected to transport, house, and feed their athletes during the course of all meets.
Challenge Days
Periodically, we will hold evaluations used to assess each athlete’s progress and confirm appropriate group placement. They provide divers with an opportunity to demonstrate their readiness to move to the next level, regardless of their current group. Group assignments are based on both ongoing coach evaluations during regular practices and performance on Roster Days.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are available and managed centrally through the club. These are offered based on pool time and coach availability and are not guaranteed. Do not ask coaches directly to arrange private lessons. Please contact the club to schedule.
Athlete Expectations
This is a training program and not a babysitting service. Athletes are expected to behave professionally. Horseplay, disrespect, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Coaches reserve the right to remove an athlete from practice without warning. Repeated behavioral issues may result in removal from the program without a refund.
Parent Expectations
Parents must maintain a positive and respectful presence. Coaching or interfering with club operations is not permitted. Coaches have the authority to address inappropriate behavior, including asking a parent to leave the facility. If issues persist, athletes may be removed from the program without a refund. I don’t parent your kids. Please don’t coach my athletes.
